Apple is expected to launch new iPhone models in September 2019 and a new report suggests that along with that, the Cupertino-based tech giant is likely to launch next generation of AirPods.
As per a research note shared by Philip Elmer-DeWitt, Daniel Ives said that the launch of the third generation of Apple AirPods “towards year-end ahead of holiday season.” Ives also added that besides some expected design enhancements, the Apple AirPods 3 “will be waterproof with higher price points.”
Previous reports have also suggested that Apple may launch AirPods 3. As per a June 2018 report from Bloomberg, Apple is working on AirPods featuring both water resistance and noise cancellation.
The noise cancellation feature of the alleged Apple AirPods 3 has been previously suggested by Digitimes, however, at the time it was said that Apple was yet to figure out how to incorporate the noise cancellation technology in its AirPods mechanical design.
Apple tipster and former KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo suggested in April that the iPhone maker is working on not one but two models of the AirPods, which are likely to be launched at the end of 2019 or in the beginning of 2020. As per Kuo, while one of them will come with an all-new form-factor, the other is likely to be the same as the present in terms of design. The former is expected to be pricier than the latter, Kuo claims.
